Welcome Developers

Yesterday we announced our switch to the new and improved CNET Developer site.   We are excited to welcome our existing active developer community to the new site.  As the first folks to see our new offerings we are hoping to find a more open and welcoming environment, where we can open up the conversations on how to improve our various API offerings.

In the coming months we will be evaluating our various API end-points that we use internally at CNET, and deciding which ones will provide value to the community.  Obviously we can't open up everything, but we'd love to hear from you all about the kinds of data you'd like to get your hands on, and what you would then do with it.  I look forward to hearing from you in the Forums!

You might be asking "How do we know what could be available?"  Fair question.  Just look at our sites.  With the exception of a few very old pages (which are in the process of being rebuilt) ALL of the CNET sites are powered by our API.  This was no small effort, but one that was for sure worthwhile.  We knew that if we were going to have a good API offering we were going to have to be the ultimate API consumers ourselves.

For now, have a look around, and don't be shy.  It's only with the support of our development community that we'll be able to make the CNET API a success!

CNET API Development Blog

We are relaunching the CNET API... same functionality, but with a slightly better face.

Now that our public facing API, of CNET's award winning content, is 2 years old, we thought we'd give it a nice birthday surprise and give it a bit of a facelift.  Besides improving some of our documentation, we have also opened up Forums to all you great developers out there.  You'll also want to keep an eye on this Blog, which is where we will be announcing new API access in the months to come, and perhaps some other things that you never imagined we might be able to cook up.

More to come soon... stay tuned!
